THORNLEIGH TO BEROWRA

Dana and I decided to continue on with our urban theme of late and hike a short section of The Great North Walk. We had no fixed plan other than walking for a couple of days at a slow pace allowing us to enjoy the surrounds and the company of other walkers.

The temptation to push the pace completely disappeared on this trip which suited my increasingly fragile 37 year old body. Working harder to achieve the same results is a frustrating concept to accept at such a young age, and the realisation that perhaps I'm no longer putting in the same effort as I once was, is mildly motivating.

The GNW attracts all types of people for various reasons. The whole walk is 250klm's from start to finish, leaving Sydney and meandering north through the Central Coast ending at Newcastle. It seems to be the training ground for people heading off to Nepal, Kilimanjaro, Kokoda etc.

We met some great people and sat around camp listening to stories of travel in distant parts of the world, discussing politics, and laughing about each others misfortune on past adventure's.

We made our way to Thornleigh station and followed a well signposted track for the next couple of days to Berowra through some beautiful bushland, all within shouting distance from suburbia.
My trusty Canon G9 got a work out on macro and survived the usual knocks and downpours along the way.
Nice relaxing walk.
